Ipswich Town agree £500,000 deal to sign Colchester United defender

According to a report from the East Anglian Daily Times, Ipswich Town have agreed to pay £500,000 to sign defender Kane Vincent-Young from League Two side Colchester United.

Over the course of the past week or so, reports have emerged claiming that Ipswich Town are keen to sign defender Kane Vincent-Young from Colchester United, with Paul Lambert looking to further reinforce his squad before the window slams shut on September 2nd.

Lambert remained tight-lipped when speaking about the reported interest in Vincent-Young earlier this week, saying:

“No, nothing there. Someone mentioned that about that lad the other day [Vincent-Young] but I’ve not heard anything. I know he’s Colchester’s player and I’ve not heard anything.

However, now, it has been claimed by the East Anglian Daily Times that the two clubs have come to an agreement over a £500,000 transfer fee for the 23-year-old defender. The report adds that while the fee has been agreed, negotiations over payment structure will continue as the Tractor Boys look to press on with a deal.

The defender has made his way into the senior game with Colchester United after being released by Spurs in 2014. becoming a fixture in the side over the course of the past five seasons. In his time in East Anglia, Vincent-Young has played 125 games, scoring four goals and providing five assists in the process.

Vincent-Young had the chance to make a move to Ipswich Town in the summer transfer window of last season, coming in to have a trial under Paul Hurst, but opted to put pen to paper on a new deal with Colchester. Now, it seems that a move could now be on the cards with a fee agreed between the two clubs.
