Hull City are through to the next round of the Carabao Cup after beating Tranmere Rovers 3-0 at Prenton Park last night. Here are five things we learned from the game-
Comfortable evening- The win was straightforward for the visitors and despite Tranmere being the better side in the second-half, the Tigers had done all the damage in the first half and the game was already won.
Quick starters- Grant McCann’s side have made blistering starts to games so far this season. They took the lead on three minutes on the opening day away to Swansea City, six minutes against Reading last Saturday and then 19 seconds last night against Tranmere.
Impressive debutants- Hull gave debuts to Matt Ingram, Matthew Pennington, Josh Magennis and Leonardo Da Silva Lopes and they all made decent starts to life as City players. They all seem to fit in well with the way McCann likes his sides to play.
Could Ingram challenge George Long for the number one spot?- It was a great display by Ingram last night who made some decent saves to keep Tranmere at bay. He could really push Long hard for the starting position between the sticks this season based on that performance.
Promising youngsters- Rob McKenzie and Brandon Fleming are two academy graduates who Hull fans are familiar with now having seen them play last season. They looked comfortable last night as they continue to get more first team experience under their belts.
