Villa

Former Villa and Leeds striker, now a free agent, is a wanted man.

Many positions are sought after for clubs at this stage during the summer months, but none are as frenzied as the position where the goals come from, strikers are hot commodities at the best of times, but with time running out before the new season, clubs are looking for good players at good prices.

So the availability of a player at the standard of Ross McCormack, who has had massive success in The Championship, on a free transfer could cause a scramble in the market in the coming days and weeks.

McCormack, now 32-years-old, is a free agent following his release by Aston Villa, but is still believed to possess the attributes needed to propel a standard attack into one of flair and style, so who will make the Scotsman an offer he can’t refuse?

Championship clubs Charlton Athletic, Wigan Athletic and Reading are all said to be interested in McCormack, who scored twenty nine goals and provided ten assists in his final season with Leeds United in the 2013/14 season, along with League One clubs Ipswich Town and Coventry City.

There are also a host of clubs from his native Scotland that would like to take McCormack home.

It is believed that the Glasgow born front man would prefer to stay within the UK though, following two stints on loan in Australia last season with Melbourne City and Central Coast Mariners in recent times, but he will look to play at the highest level possible.

Perhaps an SPL club would suit the player as the top level in England would probably now be a step too far, however, with the reputation of The Championship growing by the season, he could find himself playing and excelling once again within England’s second tier.
