Cristiano Ronaldo's long-standing presence at European Championships has seen him break numerous records along the way.

The Portugal captain won the competition in 2016, with his country beating France 1-0 in the final - but that's not the only major achievement he's managed at the tournament.

Ronaldo is yet to confirm whether or not this summer will mark his final European Championship, but given he turns 40 next year, it's likely this will be the last we see of him at the competition.

He won't break the record for being the oldest player ever at the tournament, with him set to come in second behind former Crystal Palace and Hungary goalkeeper Gabor Kiraly who was 40 years and 86 days at Euro 2016.

However, there are other feats Ronaldo could still break this summer as he bows out of playing on Europe's biggest stage.

So what records does Ronaldo currently hold and which ones could he still add to his list? talkSPORT.com has got all the information you need...

Current European Championship records

Most finals appearances - 25

Since his debut in the tournament 20 years ago when Portugal were hosts of Euro 2004 - yes, we feel old reading that too - Ronaldo has played 25 games. He's missed just one game, sitting on the bench for the final group game against Switzerland in 2008.

The players with the second highest number of appearances are his compatriots Joao Moutinho and Pepe who have 19 appearances respectively. He's also got the record for most appearances when including qualifiers (64).

Most final tournaments - 5

Before Euro 2020, 22 players had featured at four different European Championships, including ex-Manchester United and Denmark goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel and former Chelsea glovesman Petr Cech.

But after Portugal's run to the round of 16 three years ago, Ronaldo has now featured at five Euros, the most of any player in the tournament's history.

Most finals goals - 14

After finishing as joint-top goal scorer at Euro 2020 with Czech Republic's Patrik Schick with five goals, Ronaldo secured his place as top scorer of all-time at European Championships with 14.

Scoring in his first game should have been a sign of what was to come. He'd levelled France's Michel Platini's record of nine by the end of Euro 2016. Ronaldo also has the most goals when including qualifiers (50).

Most finals tournaments scored in - 5

Ronaldo has scored in each of the five Euros Portugal have qualified for since his debut in 2004. That makes him the only player to have scored in three or more multiple Euros.

France and Arsenal legend Thierry Henry (2000, 2004 and 2008) and England hero Wayne Rooney (2004, 2012, 2016) are among the stars to have scored in three championships. It's more than likely Ronaldo will extend this lead to six this summer.

European Championhip records Cristiano Ronaldo could break

Oldest scorer - Ivica Vastic (38 years 257 days)

Austria's Vastic was the oldest player at Euro 2008, but that didn't stop him from getting on the scoresheet by netting a penalty in added time against Poland in the group stages.

Ronaldo will be 39 years 130 days on the opening day of Euro 2024, June 14, so older than Vastic was. Over to you, CR7!

Oldest outfield player to feature - Lothar Matthaus (39 years 91 days)

Germany's Matthaus holds the record for being the oldest outfield star at a Euros, breaking it at Euro 2000.

Now, Ronaldo is pretty much nailed on to add this one to his list, as long as he doesn't get ruled out with an injury before the tournament. Or he, bizarrely, goes in goal...

Oldest scorer in a final - Leonardo Bonucci (34 years 71 days)

England fans, we sincerely apologise for reminding you of this one. Italy's Bonucci became the oldest player to score in a European Championship final when he netted his side's equaliser in the 2020 final against the Three Lions. You know the rest...

Ronaldo has played in two European Championship finals, losing 1-0 to Greece in 2004 and of course clinching victory in 2016. He is yet to score in one, though. What a finale this could be.

Oldest player in a final - Jens Lehmann (38 years 232 days)

Reaching the final of Euro 2024 alone will see Ronaldo pick up another record.

He will surpass ex-Germany star Lehmann, who set the record for the oldest player in a final at Euro 2008 as they lost 1-0 to Spain, courtesy of a Fernando Torres winning goal.

Oldest player to win a European Championship - Arnold Muhren (37 years 23 days)

Should Portugal go all the way and bring another Euro title home, it'll make their captain the oldest player ever to win the tournament.

Netherlands' Muhren set the current record in 1988, meaning 39-year-old Ronaldo can end a 36-year old feat this summer.

Win multiple European Championships as captain - Iker Casillas (2008 and 2012)

There is one feat that Ronaldo can add that isn't to do with his age. He can become the second player to win multiple Euros while captaining his country after lifting the trophy in 2016.

It would put him level with ex-Spain skipper Iker Casillas, who led his country to glory twice, first in 2008 and then in 2012.
