Keown, who is a regular on talkSPORT, is one of the best pundits in football right now and clearly takes great pride in ensuring his analysis of players and key figures is accurate.

Tasked with analysing Nottingham Forest's game with Wolves on Saturday night, Keown was keen to make sure that he was discussing Nuno Espirito Santo accurately, leading to a hilarious off-camera moment.

Speaking on The Rest Is Football podcast, Lineker said: “We had a giggle last night.

"Martin’s wonderful, I love him to bits and he’s brilliant to work with but he does get a bit nervous about his pronunciation of various names.

“He does tend to ask you quite a lot of times how you say everybody’s name, including Nuno (Espirito Santo).

“There’s a bit in the show which was brilliant. Just before his analysis he turns to Micah and goes ‘it’s Nuno, isn’t it? Nu-no? Micah’s gone, ‘yes of course it is!’

“Then Micah and me were corps-ing. Martin was doing his analysis over the top of the pictures and Micah and myself could not look at each other because we were both gone.

“No one at home would have known because we were out of vision but Micah had to look completely the other way – he was looking one way and I had to look completely the other way, funnily enough it was to the monitor which had The Masters on, but that’s besides the point.

“We were both absolutely in hysterics and thankfully it was a long piece of analysis, so by the end we were able to get a grip of each other.”

Laughing along, Shearer replied: “What else could it f****** be apart from Nuno?” to which Lineker replied: “That’s exactly the point.

“Could it have been ‘Nun-no?! But it was so funny. I did wonder if you were going to come back from it, Micah.”

Richards then said: “Honestly, I was gone.

"You’re absolutely right, thankfully the analysis was long and for those who don’t know there are various cameras in the studio and you might have a camera that shows all three of us, one that shows Gary when he’s reading a link or asking a question but luckily it came from like a back shot and then to a single of Martin.

“If it had come to a shot of the three of us I’d have been in big trouble because if people see me laughing we’d have to address it – it was madness.”
